the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast, or Costiera Amalfitana in Italian, is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy (Province of Salerno), extending from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east.

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most enchanting coastlines in Europe, for the spectacular landscape and historic heritage of the place. The vegetable patches and the gardens, are all contained in terraces, where the products, like lemons, are cultivated from centuries.

Along the 50km of the wonderful Amalfi Coast there are small villages, like Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Atrani, Scala, all located near little beaches, where deep high valleys run down to the sea, confirming the traditional interplay between sea land, trade and agriculture, so peculiar to the history of Amalfi.

about the restaurant

The restaurant was opened on the 13th September 1993. It was at the time the one and only Italian restaurant in Wokingham.

The restaurant was named after the great Italian composer, Gioacchino Rossini (1792 - 1868) also know for his innate love of food and a great connnosaire of the classical Italian food.

Over the years the restaurant tried their best to maintain the same levels of high standards by providing great tasting food and creating a very welcoming and family atmosphere.

The sweet trolley is a true representation of Italian desserts.

Antonio (owner) also know as Toni, was brought up on the Amalfi coast in the fishing village of Maiori hence the reason, since the restoration (2009), that the restaurant has been brought back to life with magnificent painting of the Amalfi costal villages.
